pebbles of life

they bloomed in May: the white irises. one after another, their petals unfolded in a white spectacle. (here's a picture of them: iridiscent).

back then, i walked through the garden every morning, and cut the withered petals. that's when i first noticed a knob-like thingie that grew out of one of the iris stems.

i almost cut the stem after the last petal on it was gone, but then left it in its place. and waited. curious for what that knob would turn into. it took 3 months for it to get ready. this weekend, after a long rain, it opened, like a ripe fruit. and like a fruit, it contains seeds - pebbles of life. coming in the colours of autumn already.
