2 moments of natural light, or: why rainbows and sunsets look like they do

photo friday's new theme is: "Natural Light"
it brought me back to 2 special "light" moments, both from Lanzarote island:
a rainbow and a sunset. and now i finally looked up the "why?" of both phenomenons

"A rainbow is an optical andmeteorological phenomenon
that is caused by reflection of light in water droplets in the
Earth's atmosphere,
resulting in a
spectrum of light appearing in the sky."

"As a ray of white sunlight travels through the atmosphere to an observer,
some of the colors are scattered out of the beam by air molecules and
airborne particlesAt sunrise and sunset, when the path through the atmosphere is longer,
the blue and green components are removed almost completely
leaving the longer wavelength orange and red
hues we see at those times."
